Why cognitive havioural therapy (CBT) or counselling?
Sometimes it can help to consult an Accredited CBT Therapist or Accredited Counsellor who has the expertise and skills to work with you to help you to make sense of your thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
There are times when it can feel as though things are not going well. You may feel disappointed with how your life is turning out. You might think you are living the same year over and over, and feel low or anxious or stuck. Perhaps you feel disengaged and ambivalent about your relationships or work. Or you might spend sleepless nights worrying about the past, present or future. Maybe you are wondering if cognitive behavioural therapy or counselling could help. Sometimes you can find a way forward yourself.
Problems CBT and counselling can help with
I work with people who are experiencing feelings of depression, anxiety, panic and stress. I help clients to understand themselves, to help them to find ways to move forward and to help them to learn some coping strategies.
I work with individuals and couples who are experiencing relationship difficulties. I help them to explore how they could improve their relationships. I can help you to explore how to live in a more fulfilling way.
I also help clients with their personal development. I can help you to overcome difficulties at work and to achieve your potential.
It can be difficult to ask for help. You may feel embarrassed or think that your problems are not severe enough to ask for help. Imagine you did ask for help and were able to change your life. Imagine looking forward to each day rather than dreading it. If something is stopping you from living the life you would like to, I wonder if it could be worthwhile to do something about it.

Are I suitably qualified?
I am often asked this question by people seeking therapy. Choosing a therapist is a big step. You want to feel safe, understood, and confident that your therapist has the skills and training and experience to help. It can be confusing to choose a therapist because the titles Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) and Counsellor and Psychotherapist are not protected. For clarity, anyone can use these titles at present.
It might be helpful to consider what you would do if you were looking for a specialist surgeon for a physical problem. Would you want someone who had completed a rigorous training in that specialist surgery and had gone to the trouble of obtaining accreditation for that specialist area? Would you investigate the difference between being registered and being accredited? How would you find that surgeon? How much time would you spend researching their credentials?
As well as being a BABCP accredited CBT Therapist and BACP and NCPS accredited Counsellor, I am recognised at the highest professional level (Category C) with the NCPS under the new SCoPEd framework .
That means you can trust that:
-
My training has been assessed to the most advanced level.
-
I have the experience to work with both straightforward and complex issues.
-
I am accountable to professional bodies that uphold strict ethical standards.
- I engage in ongoing professional development and ongoing clinical supervision.
With over 18 years of experience, I offer you the reassurance of professional commitment, experience and robust training.
When you choose me, you know you’re working with a fully accredited and experienced CBT therapist and Counsellor.
